The process of forming the Election Commission and finalising the voter list for the Dhaka University Central Students` Union (Ducsu) election is expected to be completed by May, according to the official election roadmap released today.
As per the roadmap shared by the university’s Public Relations Office, the appointment of the chief election commissioner and the formation of the full Election Commission will take place in the first half of May. Following that, the commission will prepare the voter list by mid-May. Once these procedures are done, the Election Commission will announce the election schedule with the approval of the university’s vice chancellor.
The roadmap also outlines the progress of three Ducsu-related committees. The Constitution Reform Committee has held six meetings so far and finalised proposed amendments based on feedback from student organisations and stakeholders. The revised constitution has been circulated among concerned groups and is currently awaiting approval from the university syndicate.
Meanwhile, the Code of Conduct Committee completed seven meetings with representatives from student organisations and university journalists before finalising the draft code of conduct, which is also pending syndicate approval.
Additionally, the Ducsu Constitution Amendment Committee has conducted six meetings to finalise reforms based on opinions from student organisations and the general student body. This revised draft too has been sent to stakeholders and awaits syndicate clearance.
The roadmap further notes that the Consultation Committee has already completed nine discussion meetings and plans to wrap up its remaining tasks by mid-April.
